Ingredients:
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 large egg
- 3.75 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch salt
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
Instructions:
- Combine warm milk and granulated sugar in the mixer bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in melted butter and the room-temperature egg.
- Gradually add flour and salt. Mix on low speed until a shaggy dough forms, then switch to the dough hook.
- Knead for 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
- Place dough in a greased bowl and let rise for 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
- Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces using dental floss or a knife.
- Place buns in a greased 9x13 inch baking pan and bake for 30 minutes at 350°F.
- Whisk together softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and heavy cream until smooth. Spread over warm buns.
