Ingredients:
- 12 pieces Babybel cheese wheels, wax removed
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed but cold
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 tbsp water
- 24 pieces candy eyeballs
- 1/2 tsp flaky sea salt
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the cold puff pastry slightly on a lightly floured surface and use a pizza cutter to slice the dough into strips approximately 1/4 inch wide.
- Place a Babybel wheel on a pastry strip and wrap the dough around the cheese in an overlapping, haphazard fashion, leaving a small gap at the top for eyes.
- Press the ends of the pastry strips firmly into the bottom of the cheese to secure them.
- Brush each mummy generously with the egg wash mixture (beaten egg and water).
- Bake for 12–15 minutes until the pastry is mahogany-colored and the cheese begins to ooze.
- Remove from oven and immediately press two candy eyes into the gap at the top of each mummy.
- Optional: Sprinkle with a pinch of flaky sea salt before serving.
